The United States is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from his first-up run for sixth in the Group 2 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) and should prove extremely tough to beat from barrier 2 on Saturday.

The United States returned to racing this year for a credible fifth in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m), before savaging the line for a close second in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) on March 12th.

Breaking through for a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) on March 19th, the Galileo entire returned to the paddock after finishing a close second in the featured Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on Day 2 of The Championships.

Darren Weir has dominated the 2016 Crystal Mile field; confirmed a total of four of his stable stars for a start including Stratum Star and Ulmann.

Group 1 winner having taken out last year’s edition of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m), Stratum Star took plenty of benefit from his first-up run for seventh in the CF Orr Stakes this year, and responded with a close second in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) a fortnight later.

Running third in the Blamey Stakes and sixth in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m), the Stratum entire failed to fire in the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) but ended his autumn and winter campaign third in each of the Group 2 QTC Cup (1300m) and Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m).

Having placed eighth in the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) first-up on October 2nd, Stratum Star ran on well for fifth in the Group 3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) last weekend and should enjoy a step up in distance in the Crystal Mile.

Ulmann began his career under the guidance Peter Moody, but has arguably found his best form to date since transferring to Weir’s care.

Running second in the Ladbrokes.com.au BM90 (1400m) first-up on July 2nd, the Sebring gelding won a pair of Victorian minors over 1400m respectively before finishing a luckless fifth in the Listed Penny Edition Stakes (1400m) on August 20th.

Subsequently placing second in the Listed The Sofitel (1400m) and winning the Listed Paris Lane Handicap (1400m) at his two most recent starts, Ulmann will leave from the rails draw in the Crystal Mile 2016.
